Dutch WtE plants cooperate with German counterparts
In January the Waste-to-Energy (WtE) section of the Dutch Waste Management Association (DWMA) signed a cooperation agreement with the German association ITAD (Interessengemeinschaft der Thermischen Abfallbehandlungsanlagen in Deutschland e. V).
Carsten Spohn, director of ITAD (left) and Marc Kapteijn, chair of the DWMA's Waste-to-Energy section Both organisations are committed to the efficient use of waste as a raw material for materials recycling and energy recovery, and many of their members are internationally active. Entering into a cooperation arrangement was a logical step. The two organisations will be sharing statistics, information on general trends in the sector and their experiences with legal and technical developments. Besides mutual support and information exchange, the agreement will simplify cooperation on demonstration projects, for example so that funding for new research can be used more efficiently.
Carsten Spohn (ITAD):
"Truly sustainable developments do not stop at borders and the circular economy is no exception."
On the cooperation with DWMA, Carsten Spohn, director of ITAD, said: 'Truly sustainable developments do not stop at borders and the circular economy is no exception. We have been making this point to politicians for a long time and are now taking action ourselves.'
'Cooperation is the cornerstone of the circular economy. We want to set an example on how cross-border cooperation can contribute to a more sustainable economy,' said Marc Kapteijn, chair of the DWMA's Waste-to-Energy section.

"We want to set an example on how cross-border cooperation can contribute to a more sustainable economy."
The DWMA represents the interests of companies throughout the whole waste management chain. ITAD represents the interests of the owners and operators of thermal waste treatment plants (municipal solid waste incinerators, RDF power plant and sludge incinerators). www.itad.de
